Epilepsy Queensland November Bulletin
Wow ... a great night out and lunch with Wally!
At the end of October Jessica Bishop and Adelphia Productions hosted their inaugural fundraising event in support of Epilepsy Queensland. Attendees were treated to a swimsuit parade, DJ Jimmy Vegas, live band, a dance show and a surprise performance by Andrew Stockdale from Wolfmother. Andrew kindly offered to be auctioned for a song then entertained the crowd with Joker and the Thief and Woman. The master of ceremonies for the evening was Cameron Price, journalist, Channel Nine. After Jessica introduced the other members of Adelphia Productions Rozanne Burley spoke about her son Adam who has Dravet's Syndrome. ![]() ![]() ![]() Wally Lewis was the special guest at the Sails Restaurant and Function Centre’s October Business Lunch.
In this wonderful venue beside the sea at Redcliffe Wally entertained guests with stories about his early football history, personalities he encountered and highlights of his amazing career during an interview by Nick Berrett, sports journalist, Redcliffe and Bayside Herald. Thank goodness Wally walked away from Ballymore! Wally took questions from the floor, posed for phots and signed autographs. On a more somber note Wally elaborated on his life with epilepsy – the diagnosis, keeping ‘it’ in the cupboard, living with epilepsy and his surgery. Wally was very open and forthright which encouraged others in the audience to talk to Epilepsy Queensland staff on their experiences with epilepsy. Wally was joined by Steve Eltis who spoke on his reasons for attempting – and succeeding – in the world record for three-legged walking. Read more. The lunch was a terrific success with the money raised from the raffles donated to Epilepsy Queensland. Thank you to Wally, Steve, Sails Restaurant and Function Centre and to Hilary Knights from Marketing Angles for organising this wonderful event. ![]() ![]() |
