25 years after a rash statement in the Freshie pub about the road to Cooktown never being bitumen and “when it is I will walk it” Ron Veivers of Freshwater, Cairns is keeping his promise and walking to Cooktown, arriving there on the Cooktown Discovery Festival weekend of 6,7,8 June 2009.

Turning it into a Charity Fun Walk, Ron and 12 others plan to complete the 300 plus klm walk within two weeks raising much needed funds for Epilepsy Queensland, Make a Wish and ARC Disability Services.
